Education

The criteria for Qualifying Education and Continuing Education are set by the Appraiser Qualifications Board. The Kansas Real Estate Appraisal Board adopts rules and regulations for establishing educational requirements for each classification and course approval guidelines pursuant to federal law. The Board requires course providers to submit an application for approval for qualifying and continuing education courses pursuant to K.A.R. 117-6-3. Courses are re-certified annually to ensure continued compliance with AQB criteria.

Applicants for a Kansas Appraiser credential must meet the Qualifying Education requirement for the classification they wish to apply for as detailed in the Qualifying Education Requirements document. More information regarding qualifications can be found in the Applicants section of this site.

Continuing Education for appraisers runs on a two-year cycle. In Kansas, the cycle runs from July 1 of each odd year through May 31 of the following odd year OR from the date of license issuance through May 31 of the following odd year. Appraisers are required to complete the National USPAP Continuing Education course once every CE cycle. Beginning January 1, 2026, the Valuation Bias and Fair Housing Laws and Regulations course will also be required every two years. More information regarding renewal requirements can be found on the Renewal Information page.
